Three-Way Handicap

A three-way handicap in football looks at the usual main outcomes of a game, i.e., home win, draw, or away win, but the three outcomes are handicapped. For example, Team A starts the game +1 goal ahead, or Team B starts -1 goal disadvantage.

How does three-way handicap betting work?

A three-way handicap in betting is used to level the playing field between two unevenly matched teams. A bookmaker will give one team a virtual advantage or disadvantage, represented by goals or points, before the match starts. There are then three outcomes to bet on: the home team win, the away team win, or a draw, taking into account the handicap. For example, if Team A (the underdog) is given a two-goal advantage, for a bet on Team A to win, they need to either win, draw, or lose by one goal. Conversely, for a bet on Team B to win, they must win by more than two goal.
